Restorative Justice Week 2012
"Making Things Right"
In effort to raise awareness in Bermuda of the Restorative Justice movement, Restorative Justice week aims to educate and inspire our community to consider alternative, less punitive ways we can approach crime and other social issues. Activities include:
Restorative Practices in Schools: a public forum featuring 2 short films: The Transformation of West Philadelphia High School (the International Institute of Restorative Practices) and Peer Mediation: a Bermudian Simulation (the Coalition for the Protection of Children) followed by a facilitated discussion including representatives from the Bermuda Police, the Ministry of Education and the Coalition for the Protection of Children.

Introductory Seminar on the Principles of Restorative Justice presented by the Department of Court Services’ Lashona Smith with special presentation by Magistrate Juan Wolffe on restorative practices in Bermuda’s drug court.

Restorative Justice Documentary evening and Circle Discussionfeaturing documentary Bending Bows and Arrows accompanied by circle discussion facilitated by Bermuda Youth Counseling Services’ Jacqui Basden and Lauren Trott.
